2010 Best Year Ever for Volkswagen

The global peoples' car maker could never have asked for a better year than 2010, breaking all erstwhile records of profit





Volkswagen enjoyed its share of limelight in the Indian market, with the Vento and the Polo being runaway success stories. This time, the German automaker has done the same globally too. Some of its achievements are as follows:


Operating profit is up by 1.9 billion Euros, at 7.1 billion Euros.
Deliveries top the 7 million mark, at 7.2 million vehicles, showing an increase of 13.7%
Business expansion and implemented capital increase strengthen Group’s financial stability and flexibility in the context of the planned creation of an integrated automotive group with Porsche
Volkswagen India has achieved a sales growth of 180.7% over the last year, in 2010.


“Fiscal year 2010 was the best year in the history of the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen already provided impressive proof of its robustness during the crisis and our Group is now following that up by leading the field during the economic recovery as well,” said the Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen, Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn.

Another one of the advantages of Volkswagen is its multi brand strategy. Currently they sell the brands Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen. Even supercars such as Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini are a part of the international group, Volkswagen AG. Sales revenue and operating profit in the year 2011 is expected to be even higher.
